We did it! We night weaned!!!

Yay! I just wanted to celebrate my success with night weaning my 19 month old son. He still gets milkies (it's just colostrum now) during the day and then we just lay down and he goes to sleep. We've done it for 4 nights and he has only had one bad night and that was because we were out at a party all day and he had some cake and ice cream (bad mama!!! ) Other than that it's been a breeze. I'm so happy that he's finished with nursing at night. Now I don't have to worry about him competing with our newest little guy when he comes at night. At least that's the theory. I'm even sleeping better! Yay!!!

congrats!!! Did you use any particular method for night weaning (I.e. Jay Gordon)? Or was this a process that your DS did on his own?

I'm seriously considering some amount of nightweaning, and I'm trying to decide when and how to go about it.

Hi!

Well I basically just told him that the milkies were asleep and that he was a big boy and didn't need them. That was it. I also wore clothing that made it difficult for him to get at me. At first he didn't like it, but now he's okay with the exception that he has been sick for a couple of days so things have been backtracking. I only nurse him to bed, but after that, he's cool with not nursing. I think he was just ready really. I know I was.
