how about dinner for breakfast? - Page 2

The first foods I eat for the day have to be on the sweet side - usually cold cereal & fruit. My lunch is often an extension of breakfast & consists of sweeter stuff, too - yogurt, fruit - but I may add in some savory food too. There is no way I could do dinner leftovers for breakfast - I think the smell would bug me & all I want in the morning is something sweet.

i am the EXACT opposite of you. i am raised in asia and on top of that i am a sweet hater. i can NEVER do sweet for bfast. i can do a half a toast with jam at the end of bfast but jam on bread can NEVER BE the breakfast.

i am also v. finicky about how much sweet there is in my food. a fruit yes. but not sweet sauce. that is why i can never eat teriyaki sauce.

That is funny! And, even though I love sweets & sweet food, I cannot stand sweet mixed in with savory stuff. Sweet & sour sauce = yuck, to me!! I can do a sweet food & a savory one at the same meal (pancakes & bacon), but I don't like sweet/savory flavors in one bite, so no sweet/savory sauces here either.

I love leftovers for breakfast. I can't think of anything I eat for dinner that I wouldn't enjoy for breakfast (except salad). The only exception to that is if I have to wake up early to travel. Then I have to be very kind to my stomach and have something light and savoury - vegemite on toast is good.

My DH is the opposite. He doesn't like leftovers for breakfast at all. He only wants breakfast foods in the morning and usually sweet things like cereal/fruit/yoghurt etc.

Either of us will happily eat savoury breakfast foods for dinner though

We're TF(ish) and low carbish at the moment. Breakfast usually isn't dinner food, but breakfast and lunch are pretty interchangeable. In fact, we get up abominably late, so they're often one and the same. Filling, though!

Quite often it's fried eggs and fried/wilted pak choy; occasionally we have sardines on homemade sourdough bread. When we're feeling prosperous we do bacon; on rare occasions, bacon and maple syrup and cream on pancakes. DH likes porridge in theory, but according to TF principles it has to be soaked, which we never remember to do, and he ends up eating a miniscule amount anyway. DD and I don't like it much. Probably the most specifically breakfasty food we have is yoghurt with honey and cream, but that's mostly DD, not the big people.

I should probably expand my breakfast repertoire a bit, DH says he's getting sick of eggs (heresy!). We do smoothies in the summer, but it's hard to get excited about them in winter...
