Help! Bad rxn to goat's milk

My DD is 11.5 months old, and until about a week ago only had either breastmilk or cow's milk-based formula (Similiac Organic). When we started supplementing with formula due to my current pregnancy, she had NO issues- no gas, loose stools, etc. She handed the formula just fine.

Anyway, we decided to start mixing in goat's milk to get her ready to wean off formula. She was getting 1-2 oz of goat's milk with 3-4 oz of formula for a few days when she started having a really hard time with it.

Symptoms: very loose, greenish stools; very cranky/irritable; terrible diaper rash (we CD and she's never had diaper rash before!)

For now, we've stopped with the goat's milk and gone back to straight formula or breastmilk. Do I need to call her ped? I thought goat's milk was supposed to be easier to digest- if she handled formula fine, shouldn't it have been okay? She's also teething right now, so that's likely contributing.

Poor baby :-(

If she handes the cow's milk formula just fine, why not try organic and/or raw cow's milk?

Teething definitely can contribute to the loose, green stools, I have heard from the excess saliva they swallow.

I think I'm going to. I just thought it strange that you hear so much hype about goat's milk, and I had done the research and thought goat's milk would be preferable.

The only organic I can get around here is ultra-pasteurized

Check for something called "Cow shares." It's illegal to sell raw milk in the states unless you own the cow-- so cow shares allow you to buy part of the cow so you own it and can have raw milk!

Switching a baby's milk can cause temporary upset but that doesn't mean there's a problem per se. It took my DS a week or two to get used to raw goat's milk. Raw goat's milk even gave my tummy a work out initially then things settled down.
