TB Testing

It's not a vaccine, right? It just tests whether the person has been exposed to TB, right?

I had my pre-school age child tested. I got home to a bunch of links from a friend about new stuff he found and in it is TB and how toxic and untested the ingredients/effects are...and now I'm freaking out.

How could I have been so careless to do this? How could I have "thought" that it would be ok? He's fully unvaccinated.

I'm watching him like a hawk now, because I'm worried that something might happen. I know it's probably just guilt and a bunch of hormones, but I'm having a really hard time with this.

Just had to vent...

I don't think it is healthy but I wouldn't worry too much about it now. In the future you can do the QuantiFERON®-TB test (QFT) blood test.

It is not a vaccine, but still an injected (although under the skin) substance. I had to get one once a year for work, until I started refusing based on what I learned about the chemicals in them. PP is right, no sense in freaking out now. Now you know and there are blood tests you can get if it ever is required for anything. You can also use exemptions for the TB test if need be.

Just FYI, our laws for vax exemptions are great but we can't use a TB waiver for school. The blood test can be very hard to get depending on your doctor. I got around it another way.

Jenn: I'm interested in hearing how you got around it...both my husband and I need TB tests for our adoption packet.

I have to get a TB test done soon for school - I hadn't really thought about the toxins in it, was too worried about getting around the vax requirements.

Tubersol® is prepared from a large batch Master Batch, Connaught Tuberculin (CT68) and is a cell-free purified protein fraction obtained from a human strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis grown on a protein-free synthetic medium, and inactivated.

"Tubersol® is a sterile isotonic solution of Tuberculin in phosphate buffered saline containing Tween 80 as a stabilizer. Phenol 0.28% is added as a preservative."

Since this isn't vaccine related I'm moving it over to H&H.
