Traveling at 7 months pregnant?

I am ttc and if I get pregnant this month, I will be due May 7. If I do not get pregnant this month and get pregnant the next, I assume I would be due beginning of June.

I have relatives wanting me to commit to a vacation on spring break next year, which is mid March. The vacation will involve flying some place. If I get pregnant this month, that trip is definitely out. But the next month, as in beginning of June, do you think we should go ahead and book the trip? Or say no then too? They want an answer soon and I will take the HPT in 2 weeks so that is the latest they want to know. I am not wanting to tell anyone that we are TTC.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Id say yes, even if you are pregnant now unless you have some history of preterm labor/incompetent cervix/other serious medical problems you would probably still have your doctors/midwifes okay to fly at 32/33 weeks (mid-march if you are pregnant now) and if you are not leaving the country, as far as I know no airline requires doctors okay for that point in pregnancy (most domestic flights are 36-38 weeks requiring a doctors okay. international is usually 32 weeks but most doctors are STILL okay with that!)

Taking a vaction around 32 weeks in the middle of winter would be GREAT, in my experience, because you are so sick of the weather and just need to relax and it will get your mind off of counting down each. and. every. day. of the pregnancy until you get home!

It is a long flight, as in, maybe 7-8 hrs for the long leg and then 1-2 shorter legs depending on how it ends up booked. It is to Hawaii.

Still fine and hey Hawaii? TOTALLY go for it!

the 7-8 hr flight should be on a plane large enough you can get up and walk back to the potty every hour or so (even if you dont have to go, getting up and walking back there is beneficial to keep you from getting swollen legs)

Really... Hawaii at 32/33 weeks is a trip I would jump on in an instant!

i went on a vacation this pregnancy from 27-29 weeks - it was totally fine, i would have been pretty uncomfortable after about 32 weeks though.. but we drove (2.5-3 days each way) so flying may have been a bit easier.. i think 30 weeks would be my personal cut off ..

Last time I went overseas (to Ireland) from about 30-32 weeks. No problem. It was a 6+ hour flight with a couple hours' trip to the airport on either end.

Go for it.

GO! Definitely! Just remember to stay hydrated and move around to keep your circulation active... I am 35 weeks and will be going on a mini-vacation to Montana (8 hours in a car to stay with my little sister )... I am so completely jealous of your Hawaii! I hope you have a blast!

I'm traveling at the beginning of my third trimester and my doc recommended thigh-high compression socks for the 5 hour flight plus walking around as much as possible and doing foot/ankle flexes and extensions while seated. She also said to drink ten glasses of water the day before and drink a lot while on the plane. I'm feeling pretty confident about the flights at this point.
Best wishes with your decision
