Hello everyone! So wow we are really into August - sorry it took me so long to set up the new thread. Anyone else crazy busy this month? We live right by the beach and seem to get a lot of visitors this part of the Summer. Anyone have any updates on their LO's? My DS has his top two teeth now but it still seems like they're bothering him. What are the next teeth in line? The canines? I thought it was usually a little while before those came in and that they get a break for a little while. Anyone else have any more teeth than just the bottom and top two?

It also seems like his weight gain has really slowed down, in fact I haven't been real good at keeping track of it but I feel like he hasn't really gained in the past couple months. Anyone else notice the same thing?

I know it's only August but I've started to think about birthday party planning. My DH and I love football(American) and so I was thinking of doing a football theme. Has anyone else thought about what they're going to do? It's so exciting!

Alright well gotta go entertain - seems like I do that a whole lot more nowadays. TTFN!

Hello! Happy August!

Zion has 8 teeth (the 8th one has just popped through the surface this week). I love the toothy smile!

Not sure about weight gain; she eats a lot of solids and BFs too, so I guess she's gaining weight. She is tall and slender but with chunky thighs!

I think about her 1st bday coming up too- cannot believe the time will fly by as I know it will and she'll be a year. Crazy.

She is trying to crawl and cruise and pull up- almost there- almost. She talks constantly; I love her babble.

She is still 100% sunshine all the time. Not sure I know of a sweeter cuter baby!

i was wondering what happened to all of us!

congrats on all the teeth, Gabe still has only 2 on the bottom

He pulls up, crawls (with increasing speed), will walk holding fingers, but doesn't cruise yet (to be fair, we have very little for him to cruise on, furniture wise)

He has crawled off the bed twice, despite pillows and guardrails. considering moving bed to the floor.

We've been a month and a half in cloth diapers, and still loving it!

as for weight gain, we have a scale at home, and he has gained weight, but it is slow. We don't do solids regularly, so he is still mostly BF. He has figured out how to chew, finally!

I am planning his party already. He is our first, and the first grandbaby on both sides, so it will be a big deal (more for us, than him) we are having turkey enchiladas and a pumpkin (as in flavor, not necessarily shape) cake with dulce de leche filling and cream cheese frosting. Made by a friend. I am leery of artificial coloring as Gabe's face reacts with it.

I am so ready for the weather to cool off!

Hi moms! Thanks for the updates, and I just Love those pictures!

We have been camping a lot this summer. I take Arianna in a raft with me, and we swim in the lake together. Here are a few pics from our last trip....

Hi All,
My name is Nicole and I am new here. I have been wanting to join this thread for sometime, but my personal time on the computer is limited since I work from home...plus my PC is very slow (hopefully getting new one soon!).

A little about us.....we EBF, co-sleep, cloth-diaper, baby-wear and are constantly explaining our parenting choices to our mainstream friends/family. Maya is a little over 9 months and loves to crawl, stand, pat things and play peek-a-boo! She is so pleasant, giggles all the time and her bright, blue eyes melt our hearts daily! She only has one bottom tooth that just recently popped up a few weeks ago and I swear she is the slowest teether on the planet! She eats some solids, mostly avacodo and we have been trying BLW, but she isn't interested in feeding herself much. She is interested in picking up the food and throwing it on the floor though. She is still not a great sleeper (never was) but I am hopeful that there will be a day that she will sleep longer than two-three hours....I can only hope!

Well, that's pretty much what is going on around here. It's been a hot and busy summer, but we have been enjoying our LO so much. Haven't thought too much about her birthday but we will probably keep it small w/ just some family. I can't believe how these 9 months have flown by!!! And how November is right around the corner!!!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Welcome Nicole

We are having some sleep/schedule issues DH just started a new (awesome) job, but it has wierd hours. He works 3 days a week, midnight to noon. Its great having him home for 4 days every week, but it may be contributing to messing up DSs sleep schedule. He's been going to bed at around 9pm, and then waking at like midnight (DH is gone by this time, leaves at 11pm) and then he is UP and WIRED for a few hours. Its making me nuts!

DS is walking now, as long as he has something to help him balance, like the wall or furniture. He is getting more daring about stepping away on his own, so hes falling more, and we have hardwood floors. It really freaks me out!

We have 5 teeth now! 6th one keeps popping in and out, I hope it breaks all the way out soon, poor little guy!

We finally ventured out to an LLL meeting, and met some other nice Mamas and babies, and our city had a 'Breastfeeding Cafe' for 2 weeks at the downtown library that we went to a few times, fun!

DS was super interested in food, not so much now. He mostly like to play and make a big mess. Hes still nursing every 2-3 hours, which is totally fine with me. I am getting tired of my mom telling me DS 'needs to eat real food' though Our 9 mo WBV is coming up, I dont think he has gained a lot, but I think he is much much taller. He is starting to lean out, but is still a chunker. We are now in 24 mo size clothes.

Oh, and he is saying Mama!!! I LOVE IT!!! So cute. When he is upset, its more like 'myama' but when he is happy, its 'mama' or 'mom-mom'. The other day I was letting him have some naked time, and he was trying to dig a specific toy out of his toy box, and couldnt get it. He was bent over trying to pull on it, with his bare little bum sticking up in the air, and looks over at me and yells, 'Mom-mom! Mom-mom!' too funny, he just cracks me up!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the group Nicole! I can't believe August is almost over! The Summer has flown by but I have to say I agree with Katrina - I'm so ready to be done with the heat as well! I love the warm weather but this Summer has been ridiculously hot! I'm ready for Fall and some cooler temperatures! DH and I have been hiking on weekends since he got several books on trails in our area and hikes are great fun but when it really hot and you have a 20 pound weight/sweat shop on you it's not quite as enjoyable.

I'm loving everyone's pictures - what sweet LO's! I'm getting excited about party planning. Katrina that frosting and filling sound amazing! I'm also looking into making our own cake and frosting at least for Luke. I'm going to make one large one for everyone and then one small one for him to dig into. I'm a little concerned about him trying sugar but DH is adamant that he should have cake at his first birthday and I have always thought of my kids having cakes to dig into but now that we're here my Momma bear reflex wants to kick in and protect him from having anything too soon I know I need to lighten up - he will have sugar eventually anyways.

I have been having a dilemma with Luke being on the move though and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I posted something on the Family Bed boards but haven't gotten a huge response. So Luke is on the move now doing an army crawl and pulling himself up to stand. He crawls right over the pillows I put down or moves them. We have the crib set up as a day bed so the side that's open is set up right next to our bed so we can still co-sleep and night fed without too much disruption. And I would like to keep it that way I'm just not sure how to keep him contained so that when he's down for naps I don't have to worry about not hearing him right away in case he decides to explore the rest of the bed and wind up on the floor. Any thoughts on how to do that? Well gotta run. Thanks!
