but we have NO money. i took the quiz in the sticky and scored over 80. i would NOT hurt my baby or my big kids and i would not commit suicide but almost everything else (not in red) scored a 3. tired. check- constantly, forgetful= yup, crying lots, uh huh sounds familiar, outbursts of anger/yeling yup.

waiting for my midwife to message me back telling me how much it would cost to see the dr they have on staff. i need to start talking to someone. poor dh is not doing well with this either.

I am so sorry you are going through this I do think therapy combined with meds is a great route, but if you can't afford therapy right now, the standard, safe SSRIs (Zoloft, Prozac) have really cheap generics these days...
Good luck and keep us posted!

mom2tig, i'm so sorry you're going through this. s I hope you can get some help. I don't know how you feel about meds, but like azgirl said generics are cheap. My scrip for zoloft is $6.

I really recommend the Postpartum Support International -- there's a link to it in this sticky: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ad.php?t=10642

They have coordinators in all the states that you can talk to for free. These people have a great sense of the resources in your community, including free ones. There are many communities, for example, that have free support groups for moms with PPD.

If you've got health insurance, they will usually cover the SSRIs. Mine covers the generic ones at no/very low coast. Many health insurers will also cover at least some visits to a counselor/therapist.

If you don't have health insurance, many of the drug companies have programs where they will provide free/very low cost meds to people who need them.

I know it's hard to get organized and seek out these resources with PPD. PPD makes it that much harder. I'm really glad that you called your midwife. That's a great first step. The PSI website I linked to above also has great resources for you and that you can show to your dh.

You will get through this and you will feel better. Right now, just take it one morning/afternoon/evening at a time.
