actually I was on insulin for my last pregnancy so I know how it works. and I was specifically told by my endocrinologist that I wouldn't have the opportunity for diet controlled GD, if I failed the 3 hour, or if she thought my numbers showed a trend for GD i would automatically be put on insulin. That's why I have been very careful. I know that I am sensitive to certain carbs and not others.

I frankly would do anything to beat it and rather test at home to see if I really have GD. I cannot refuse the test as the birthing center is not allowed to have mamas with GD, so it would be a horrible bummer. I did fine with DS, but already the differences I noticed in the test compared to Europe were crazy (my sister was sent away for an hour to do whatever she wants, we went shopping) instead of evil nurse telling me you have to sit and may not even move your arms. Baeh. The birthing center offers grape-juice instead of glucola which is already way better since that drink made me throw up and the artificial ingredients are questionable at best.
All women I personally know who were labeled as GD did fine, had children way below 8 pounds, had tons of interventions pressured onto them.
