I am on my third pediatrician at this point, and my son is 9 and a half months old. The reason is vaccination issues. I have been to Dr. Calderon in St Vincent's Family Clinic, Dr. Wendy Badgwell (crazy) at AR pediatric clinic and currently on Dr. Eugene Lou at AR Pediatric Clinic (came recommended at LLL meeting). So far Dr. Lou is the best...because he introduced himself by his first name and when he saw my chart and saw that my son is not fully vaccinated (I am both selective and delayed), he ASKED me what my thoughts are on vaccinations instead of informing me what they should be. I told him my concerns and he listened, didnt interrupt, and then he told me, very politely and smoothly, that I "shouldnt worry about that"...translation: youre wrong. He also pushed, in a PC kind of way, for me to go ahead and at least finish the DTAP series. I told him I would consider it at a later date. I suppose at this point I am settling for not being talked down to. I dont think there is a Ped in LR who is "cool" with not vaccinating. I have heard good things about Jane Miers in the past, but my good friend uses her and said the clinic has been getting very hostile and pushy about vaccinations in her last few visits (she hasnt vaccinated at all, zlitch).
