What are we doing wrong?

DS is a happy spitter (no reflux, colic or other issues) and we're co-sleeping and all getting wet. How the heck do you ladies with spitters manage? If I'm still half conscious I do try to burp him, but more often than not he'll spit whether or not I have burped him. ATM I put down a towel in the danger zone on my bed. It still doesn't keep him from spitting up all over himself though. How do you all manage? I feel like we all constantly smell like sour milk. I feel yucky and gross all the time. Granted, I do need a shower, but it makes no difference. Come this evening I'll need another one and I don't have that much time on my hands.
Please, mamas, tell me your secrets to co-sleeping with spitters!

I used to keep a supply of heavy prefold cloth diapers on the floor by the bed and just keep a clean one under baby, and a clean one sort of draped over my chest between me and baby. DD1 was my huge spitter-- I used to need a new one every two hours or so. Then I'd plan on an AM bath for me and her together, and throw the pile of dirty diapers in the wash. You'll want a good mattress protector, too, and a spare for when the first one needs washing.

And hang in there-- the spitting for us eased up a LOT once DD could sit up alone.
