Do you really save using the Grocery Game?

We are needing to save a lot of money. I have a big family, 7 in all and so we spend a lot on food and cleaning, shampoo, soap and other bathroom stuff. I am just wondering if it is worth the money $10 for 1 store and $5 for each additional store every 8 weeks. I mean if I got it for 2 stores it would be $15 every 8 weeks. Am I going to save a lot with the game to make it worth it?

I will not be working so I will have time to clip and stuff, but we really need to cut our bill in half. Will we save big, or is it all a scam?

The only reason i am revisiting the Game is because they finally have one of our major grocery stores on it. Before all they had were a few drug stores.

If you have time to clip then you may have time to do the legwork yourself as well. I started doing it myself because our preferred store wasn't on the GG at that time. I got used to reading the store circular on Thursday evening before the sales started on Friday, and I found a few places I could look online to see what the coupons would be for that week.

If your store is large enough, you could possibly even search sites like Slickdeals.net (they have a grocery subforum) or even google "StoreName Deals" and see if anyone's discussing it already.

And of course, check sites like TheCouponClippers.com - they have a "tracker" up midweek to show what coupons will be available, as well as being a 'clipping service' where you can get multiples of the 'good' coupons. I follow them on Facebook too so I can see when they put up new batches right away.

After a few weeks of couponing you do kind of get a feel for prices of items you use regularly, what constitutes a good sale price, what coupons would be good to have many of. Does the Grocery Game still offer a free trial? Maybe you could do GG side by side with doing your own research for a couple of weeks and see how you make out.

Doing coupon matchups will save you a boatload if you have the time, energy, and adequate space to store your stockpile. I walked out of the store this week with a cart full of groceries for about $20 out of pocket, and I got a $10 off your next order coupon as well. But I would not pay for the privilege. Try googling frugal or coupon blogs in your area to find matchups for your local stores. If you have Walgreens, CVS or RiteAid in your area, you could start with just those. I pretty much never pay for razors, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. The Moneysavingmom.com blog has coupon lineups for tons of stores. That might be a good place to start. Slickdeals.net forums are also nice for finding deals.
