DH really doesn't want to put mattress on the ground

Thread Starter
We are expecting our first little one in December. DH really does not want to put the mattres on the ground, which is by far what I would prefer to do.

We are thinking about sidecarring a crib, but we have a pretty small room, and it seems like that would take up a lot of space and I have a feeling that baby and I will be snuggling together the whole night, anyway, at least for a while? So what would be the "point" of the crib sidecarred until about 5 or 6 months?

We have a queen sized bed, so I was thinking that maybe at first, we could just shove my side of the bed up against the wall and make sure it is really snug up there, using pool noodles or something to make sure there are no gaps? Or would a bed rail be better?

Or is there another solution that I have not thought of? I know that sleeping arrangments tend to be fluid, but I really don't want to buy anything that we are then going to end up only using for a little bit or not liking at all...

Any advice or ideas are much appreciated!

We love the Humanity Family Bed. It's soft, washable, and somehow makes a queen-sized bed feel bigger than it is. My DH didn't want to put our mattress on the floor when DS was born either, so we got one of these and it worked out really well. We'll be using it again soon enough.
