Other fertility signs are there but cervix is high, firm and closed?

I have EWCM and positive OPKs yesterday and today (well this morning's was *almost* positive but mine are usually lighter with FMU so I expect to have another positive this afternoon) but my cervix is not high soft and open - it's high firm and closed. I've been checking for months so I know the difference. Does this mean it's a false alarm and I'm probably not really going to ovulate? Is there even any point in DTD when my cervix is closed? It's CD 40 but I often have long cycles and I'm positive I haven't ovulated already this cycle, this is the first time since AF that I've had any fertility signs at all. Before when I've ovulated while charting my cervix has been HSO so this is not typical for me. Thoughts?

I stopped checking my cervix because it never did seem to correspond with my O (I am a late-ovulator too). But I did notice that it changed throughout the day. Maybe you caught it at the wrong time?

I would go by your opks and not cp.

Update!

My OPK is even darker today than it was the two previous days (definitely positive and darker than control today versus barely pos. yesterday and Wed.), and cervix is finally HSO. So I think it just wasn't "quite" positive when I posted the question. I just needed to be patient. Did dtd yesterday and the day before, and plan to again tonight and tomorrow, so that should have us pretty well covered

Yay for O, WTH, I was going to say you could just be a day away, that's what my cervix did yesterday and I am expecting O for tomorrow.

I think we're cycle buddies again. (I think we were cycle buddies right before your long cycle and then you kept waiting to O All I have to show for it is another AF done anyhow, though.) Anyhow, let's do May!
