I went in for my normal mid-pregnancy ultrasound and my doctor said that there was excess fluid in my baby boy’s brain that was putting pressure on the cerebellum. They said both hydrophelus and possible Dandy Walker syndrome. I am beyond petrified and I have to wait about 2 weeks for our fetal MRI. I have also done an amniocentesis although I suspect this will come out clean as I did testing for Downs and Trisomy 13 & 18 back around 11-12 weeks and everything was perfect. The amnio results should come back early next week. We have also already done a fetal echo and our baby’s heart is perfect. I’ve been trying to find out all the info I can about DW and it’s all so scary. Is there any hope that when we go to have the MRI that perhaps this fluid will have dissipated? Is that even possible? Also, it seems that DW Variant is the less severe form of DW. What if it isnt DW and its just hydrophelus. Anyone in that boat? I would appreciate any feedback anyone had as this is my first child and I am freaking out at this point. Thank you in advance for the feedback!

where ds looked fine.
I'm sorry you got such scary news. It's sort of like your world stops while everyone else continues to move around you. When I was 21ish weeks pregnant with my daughter she was diagnosed with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
