Honestly mama, in your situation it is OK to lower your standards just a bit and pick the first and easiest thing. You're under a lot of stress right now and deserve whatever break you can get. Give yourself permission not to overthink it. And good luck with the move.

Myconcern with anythign with characters is that DS gets very verbal about what he watches and I'm worried we'll get in trouble if at the first day of his anti-media waldorf school he's going on and on about Big Bird or another character.

I like the nature show idea. What is Classical Baby? Is that onHBO?

Yikes. I doubt even the most dogmatic Waldorfians will fault a child or family for simply being exposed to characters- it's unrealistic to think a kid won't have SOME encounter with, at the very least, other children talking about Elmo or Dora.

We (and I mean "we!") LOVE They Might Be Giants' 3 videos- Here Come The 1, 2, 3s, Here Comes Science, and Here Come The ABCs. They're really cute, and the songs are super infectious.

We recently bought a $5 dvd at Target, on an end cap, that has 20 minute segments of Garbage Trucks, Trains, Planes, Bicycles, and Monster Trucks - DS loves it!

We have the $5 movie and the kids love it. I would also suggest Word World or Sid the Science Kid, even Bill Nye the Science Guy.
