I have a coworker who needs to move in the near future and due to finances must move in with family. The coworker adopted a pregnant stray cat six months ago that was hanging around the office. The kittens all died at three weeks and the vet said it was due to mama cat testing positive for feline leukemia. Mama cat is fine though, asymptomatic, just a carrier at this point. She has since been spayed and kept indoors.
Her parents already have a healthy cat. There is worry that the infected cat will make the healthy cat ill. I told her there is a vaccine for fel. leuk. and I think it should work to protect the healthy cat. Will it? Can a vaccinated cat cohabitate with an infected cat safely?
