Need some ideas for teen son bd to make him smile

Ds will be 17. Last year he walked into the room and turned on the T.V. Only to hear that the Iraqi situation had begun.
Needless to say his birthday wasn't stellar. He was pretty bummed ...
I know he thinks off and on how while it is his bday about last year and that it is still ongoing..

I want to distract him a bit when I get back home. he says he doesn't want anything or attention this year but ...

I think, bake him a cake and get him a present. You can't say that's too much fuss, that's just what people do for birthdays.
