how often do you/your little ones eat meat?

if you're a carnivore that is we were eating meat twice a day, until i spoke with other family members who thought i was nuts! i had no clue that we weren't "normal" haha. so since then, i've cut back and i have noticed that my 2 yr old eliminates much more consistently. makes sense, but im wondering what is a good balance? once a day? a couple times a week?

Once a day at minimum. And no problems eliminating regularly.

We try to eat more paleo/primal, though, grains are at an absolute minimum, and legumes are maybe once a week, tops (and that's only because the baby loves them). We are unrepentant carnivores with a ridiculous food budget, since i only buy humanely raised/pastured meat.

may i ask why you only do legumes once a week?

My children have goat milk and/or eggs with their breakfast and always some meat for dinner. Many days there will be meat/chicken/fish for lunch (grilled salmon sandwich/chicken quesadillas). I don't think it is strange at all. One of my children seems to need a lot of protein foods since she is always asking for them.

We don't eat a lot of legumes here because our family does not seem to do well eating many of them. I don't find them to be as satisfying as a protein source as meat either. We are all of northern European decent so maybe that is why we do better with meats.

On average probably once a day, though sometimes twice.

Neither of us is all that fond of them, and they don't really agree w us more often than that.

We try to do fish for dinner twice a week with pastured meat/poultry three days and other veg or almost veg twice. Lots of veg/fruit/whole grains/beans too. Lunch for the kids is often leftovers so there are probably days when they have meat twice. It would be pretty unsusual for them to go a whole day without meat/fish at one meal.

Portion size is often small though and often another protein is served, like beans or quinoa. The 3y drinks a small amount of milk during the week but a eats a lot of yogurt and the baby is still nursing.

DH always eats meat at least twice a day, about 8-10 oz total. I always eat meat at dinner, but sometimes for lunch I'll just have eggs or something. I have to confess we're kind of the "no meat = no meal" mentality though.

1-2 times a day, sometimes 3. My kids will pick the meat option over any other option.

we eat meat 3-5 times a week. but we'd happily eat it 3 meals a day, if we could afford it. It's just that we buy humane/sustainable/pastured meat, and that is expensive. (and those 3-5 times is one chicken or 1.5 lbs ground meat usually)

2-3 times a day. We don't have any trouble with sluggish bowels We try to only eat grassfed/pastured meat (we raise our own chickens for meat, which frees up money to buy beef and pork).

Same here. Works for us.

Never!

Maybe 6-7 meals a week...out of all meals but not counting eggs.

Every day, usually twice a day.

We raise our own beef and pork so it's very healthy and grass fed.

2 - 3 times a day. I'm including all forms of meat including seafood. We're primal and the kiddos eat very little grains so all meals revolve around veggies and meat, with a fruit ending!

Sometimes once a day, sometimes twice, but not every single day. Um, probably about ten meals a week. Sometimes full portions (like we had roast chicken today) and sometimes just for flavor (like I'll use stock from the chicken to flavor a sauce for vegetables tomorrow.) In the winter we eat meat a lot more, though-- like twice a day and sometimes at breakfast, too.

1-2x/day for me. Usually 1x/day for the kiddies, but sometimes 2x. Probably once a week we have no meat, or almost no meat (pasta sauce with a bit of bacon for flavoring, as the only meat, for instance).

But we eat a lot of eggs & dairy. I have eggs most mornings, and the kids have either cereal w/milk or yogurt every morning. They often eat cheese or cream cheese @ lunch.

we're once or twice a day, too. Usually at supper (though maybe once a week is meat-free), then depending on the day, maybe at lunch. If it's leftovers, then yes. If I have to cook something from scratch, then usually no. Just because the meat free options (in our house, quesadillas, salads, grilled cheese) are faster.

Usually once a day, sometimes twice. It's not common to have a totally meat free day, but that's probably twice a month or so.
