Advice from all you TTCers

Hi there.

I am excited to be posting here! Hubby and I are trying for the first time next cycle. I'm so excited!!! He's 34, I'm 33. We've been together for 14 yrs. I had some medical problems that needed to get under control before I felt like we could TTC. Anyway...

I'm pretty "crunchy" compared to most moms, but probably will fit in just right with you guys from what I've seen a lot. I grow a lot of my own food, eat organic, drink raw milk, use natural cleaning products, natural body care products, etc...

I'm here today asking if there are things you can think of that would be helpful to do/not do as I prepare to TTC.

I am taking a multi-vitamin from Life Extension that has 800mg of folic acid as well as a host of other good stuff. I also take krill oil, magnesium, calcium, and a few other things that I know are okay. My diet is fruit, veggies, free range eggs, grass fed beef, organic chicken, raw dairy, healthy fats, and some nuts. I don't eat grains or sugar on a regular basis. They aren't even in the house, but I will have a treat now and then. I am exercising pretty regularly with at least walking daily for 30-60 minutes.

Can you think of anything else I should be eating, taking as a supplement, doing, or not doing? I'm a little overly paranoid, but I think it's because I had to wait so long to be well enough to even consider this so I want to do everything right. Oh, and I have a midwife already picked out for a homebirth. I met with her for a few hours and just love her!

Forgot to say that I already chart my cycles and have for 62 months so I have that down! I know when I ovulate.

Well I don't have too much advice for you, since Im new at this too, but it seems like you have done alot more than most 1st time TTCers (including me)

I hope you get your BFP soon!

I think it sounds like you are on the right track!

I am also trying to feel this out as well. I'm TTC #2 but we are only going to be trying for two months, as i'm in school and it has to be timed perfectly..so I'm trying to enhance my two month window of opportunity!

i think the advice you would get here is to chart. lol! and youv got that covered. once you know your regular cycle, you can adjust suplements according to what your body needs. (b6, progesterone, estrogen ect...)

sounds like well be hearing about a BFP soon from you.

Thanks ladies.

The last thing I'm debating is about the raw milk I've been drinking. I need to research it more. It's not from my own goats and I always "what if". The animals are tested, I visited the farm and saw how they do it, etc. Guess I'll keep looking up information.

I like to drink red raspberry leaf tea, or nettle tea, or some kind of pregnancy tea combo If you want to add something else to your routine But seriously, you sound like you have a wonderful diet and exercise. Glad you have a midwife you like picked out!! Good luck

on raw milk

I also wonder about if I should continue raw milk. I have a friend who has been drinking it her entire pregnancy with no worries. She really trusts the farmer!

My husband suggested that he should drink a little first from each gallon and see if he has any problem.

Or you can do what they do in India and boil the raw milk yourself. It's like home pasteurization or something. It will still taste really good. Not sure if you lose any health benefits.

We love to boil the milk because the cream comes to the top and we dip it in chai with some rotis. British people boil it too. It's called Malai if you want to wikipedia it.

Good luck to you. Charting the last 62 cycles is amazing. I've only been off the pill for 2! Still figuring it out.
