The Institute for Integrative Nutrition

I wasn't sure where to put this question, but I have been thinking about going back to school. I want to be some type of holistic health nutritionist and have been researching online schools. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition keeps popping up and I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about this school. It looks good, but given that it's soooo popular I am leery of it being a lot of hype and just about them collecting money. Any input?

I don't know anything about that school but just wanted to tell you congrats on trying to take your passion to the next level.

I too am interested in Nutrition, BF, holistic nutrition. I have a BA in Family and Consumer Sciences and would like to focus more on Nutrition for the future but I also don't believe in all the FDA food pyramid nonsense that focuses on low fat and doesn't discourage processed food.

Anywhoo, good luck w/your journey!

find some graduates or dropouts on facebook or linkedin. ask them if they are working in the field and would do it again.

I went.
I would not go again.
its is NOT a science based program. it is not accredited. Its very expensive. and most people I've talked to felt like finding work afterwards was VERY difficult if not impossible. Some of the info is good and a lot of it is not. If you have specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

also, I have decided NOT to practice as I do not feel like it is a program that one can safely counseling people about diet and health after attending. There are many people who go out and counsel people and I find it pretty scary actually. I've met some people who have gone to see health counselors from IIN and almost all of them were not very pleased. I have one friend who went, is also a massage therapist and yoga teacher and has had colitis since she was a teenager (had a lot of personal experience) and she does practice some and I believe has clients who really like her.... but she also agrees that its a bit of a cultish program and she didn't particularly love it either, but it integrates well into what she was already doing.

anyhow, good luck finding the right place for yourself : )

hi,
i went to Integrative Nutrition. i found it to be one of the best experiences of my life. i met an incredible network of like minded passionate people who are all knowledgeable and supportive. the teachers are amazing. the best in the world really. the energy of the school is really contagious. when i attended i learned so many new creative ways to bring whole foods to my family. my kids love to eat their veggies because they taste great and they love the colors and smells of the kitchen.
i also work part time as a health coach. it's incredibly rewarding and fun. and i can do it from home, which is the best part! it's a great way to make extra income that allows me to still care for my family.
i highly recommend this school to anyone who is thinking about improving their own health, bringing it to their family or starting a new career. i'd do it all over again!
