Hate to double post in this forum, but I'm helping my friend Jenna get some answers about her health, and she has provided me with the timeline of her illness to try and get some experiences/answers.
Summer 2007- Jenna falls at work, hits her head, gets a concussion. Nothing serious, she checks out fine.
December 2007- The migraines/dizziness starts. Since then, she has visited several doctors, and every test has ended up being negative. There is no reason why she should be feeling so ill, so the doctors tell her it must be plain old migraines. She tried prescription migraine medicine in addition to Excederin, but no luck. The migraines make her extremely nauseous, and she has also tried anti-nausea medication, but with no luck. Therefore, her migraines and nausea go hand in hand and she ends up vomiting. The spells can last temporarily, or all day. She has been to the hospital three times for IV fluids because of dehydration from the spells. She is currently on Cymbalta, because they thought her anxiety (she's always had manageable anxiety) might be triggering the spells. She is less anxious overall, but the spells are not any better. She was also checked out by an ENT, and everything checked out normal.
Fall 2009- Jenna starts experiencing heart issues, and is rushed to the ER. She is diagnosed with techyacardia. They put her on beta blockers, but they have not made a noticeable impact. In the last ten months, she has been taken to the ER 5-6 times for her heart. She has had an echo, echo stress test, has been attached to monitors for various amounts of time and had a device implanted surgically to monitor her heart activity. Other than the accelerated/funky heartbeat, everything test has come back negative.
Currently, she and her doctors are at a loss over what to do. I've encouraged her to try some alternative treatment, but I'm hardly an expert (which is why she wanted me to seek advice here). On paper, she is 100% healthy except for some mild anxiety and the techyacardia. However, she is incredibly ill and just can't function. She's a full-time college student, and she spends all of her time in class or sick. There have been many times she's had to skip class because she couldn't get out of bed without passing out or vomiting, and she'll spend all day in bed trying to keep up with school work. She's open to trying something different, and hopes that somebody here has some experience/knowledge about this.
