So I once was an active momma here ~ but life got busy after my DS was born and I have not been around as much. My DH and I are TTC and I decided to start lurking again to beef up on my vaccination stance and make sure I am UTD on the latest news in the baby world.
My DH is unvaxed since the age of 4 months old (we stopped after reading and making lots of decisions based upon some family health history). 3 weeks ago my sister called to say her youngest child (4 years old, same age as my DS) had CP (he is also unvaxed). He only got a handful of "pox" only they never blistered or scabbed over...and were gone within 2 days. They did itch and her pediatrician was sure that it was CP.
Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks and I notice several marks on my son's back that were the same that my sister's son had (they had been together during that time so he was exposed). He initially had about 4 across the top of his back and then got about 5 more. I noticed a couple on his arms...but that was it. He did complain about them hurting and itching quite badly but they never blistered and just appeared to be mosquito bites really. My sister has 2 older children (both vax'd) and they came down with the same thing.
Have any other mommas here had this experience and think for sure it was CP? I am just curious because he has NO other symptoms. No fever, nothing...and my child is incredibly healthy. At the age of 4 1/2 he has never been on antibiotics for anything, takes Vit C daily and has only ever had a fever about 2 times in his life. I think he had a mild form of H1N1 last fall where he had a 105 temp but nothing else...just tired and fever. So is it really possible this is CP and his body is just doing an excellent job of protecting itself?
