I can claim a religious/philosophical exemption to the Hep B.
My understanding is that you can just tell them at the hospital that you're planning to do it later with your own pediatrician and they'll leave you alone about the Hep B shot.

Yeah, but I'm not. And my family doc will be in to visit at some point, she just won't be at the birth, so I don't want to lie and have her caught up in it.
I'll just tell them not to do it, and pull the exemption card if they push.

WOW. I can't believe that "we" actually legislate this stuff.

annettemarie, have you done a hospital tour? When I did mine, I asked about waivers at that time and the nurse gave me the forms up front to fill out and bring back with me. Easy. That was in FL, so YMMV of course.

I had a midwife attended hospital birth, and did not object to the Vitamin K. I told them in advance that we would not be doing Hep B and the eye goup, but when DD needed to be airlifted to a NICU my midwife suggested that we go ahead with the Hep B and goup. She let me try the eye goup first. It didn't hurt. I was concerned about all of the tests that would be done...plus the possibility of her exposure to God only knows what in the helicopter/NICU.

We are refusing eye ointment, vit K, and hep B. Live in SC, guessing we'll just sign waivers at the hospital.
