My baby has hives.

I have been really careful about introducing foods to my 10 months old. Now it seems that everytime he eats, though he's eating different things at every meal, he gets a few hives on his arm. What could this be??? I was giving him goat milk yogurt and a little bit of salmon but I stopped those. Can anyone please give me some insight???

I would pull back on solids and keep a food diary of what you are eating (if breastfeeding). If you continue with solids keep track of what your baby is eating too. See if you can find a pattern.

I would also suggest a visit to an allergist although testing at this age can be difficult and results are not as accurate.

Definitely keep a food journal.

Only introduce 1 food at a time, and serve that food for at least 4-5, everyday before giving it the OK. (Unless of course you see hives or other symptoms, then stop immediately!) Then you can add 1 more food, eaten for 4-5 days, and so on.

I agree that you should find an allergist, but keep in mind that test results aren't very accurate at that age. I would try a skin test before blood, because that should be a little more accurate.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I have stopped with the goat milk and haven't seen the hives for a few days.. The food journal sounds like a good idea. I really want to get a hold of this!
