A break from the family bed?

We went and got a toddler bed for DD (2.5) in preparation for having an option for her besides the big family bed once baby arrives in the next few months. The plan was to have her nap in the toddler bed to get her used to it... but tonight she insisted we set it up and is peacefully sleeping in it now after a single story and tucking her dolls in with her. Wow. I never thought such a thing would happen--- I was anticipating weeks of struggle and lots of transition time. Apparently I am the one who needed a transition!

I am proud of her and not about to hold her back (or count on a repeat performance of tonight) but definitely sad about the end of an era way sooner than I thought. Anyone else have a little one just decide to sleep alone on their own?

here!

we set up the pack n play for the newborn (dont feel comfy sleeping with a newborn) and the plan was to have our ds (16m) sleep inbetween us as usual. well, he was super interested in the PNP, wanted to play in it, pretend sleep in it, etc ... so after a week of ME waking HIM up due to bathroom runs, pregnancy uncomforable-ness, leg cramps ... i decided to try him in the PNP at night ... and he sleep better than ever! i cried my eyes out that first night and im still so sad, i love co sleeping!

it seems we are raising confident, independent LOs

eta: new baby hasnt arrived yet
