I have 4 kids, ages 9, 6, 3, and 8 months. My kids are sensitive, smart, and they all demand a lot.

I've started working 20 hours at home, and with all my kids home for the summer I've fallen into some bad habits.

I say, "because I said so." wtf! who is this woman, who loves to explain and debate, and loves questions (has philosophy degree)... who is this woman saying "because I said so?!" I just get so tired explaining things to kids who want to argue, and they enjoy it. I am physically fatigued!

I loose my temper. I say stupid things, that are sometimes mean. I*always* apologize, but it sucks.

I find myself saying, "just do it or I'm going to" XYZ. Nothing horrible like, like spanking, but saying, "take the game away," or "you can't go swimming." Stupid things like that.

Is that terrible? I have no problem saying, no, and being firm. It is my reaction to the push back that I need help with.

I am very close to my kids, and we spend a lot of time together, and sometimes annoy each other. We have one more month of summer...

How can I be a better communicator?

thanks, mamas!
