OK, so we have 2 emergency kits entitled "wait it out" and "run away"
In addition to some of the stuff I have seen listed, our evac kits have:
Sunscreen
Bug spray (for body)
repellent (for the area) - we live in the humid gulf coast with lots of mosquitos.
battery powered fans
2 days worth of everyone's meds/vitamins, adding in benadryl, advil, etc
matches
lighter (one of those long ones)
and the best first aid kit ever. (I am a nurse & I have everything you could think of, plus everything else I can use).
My DD has a trach & G-tube, so we have a lot of equipment for her. We got a generator for this hurricane season. The other thing we have done is a small backpack for each of our kids. It has: a laminated copy of their medical history, allergies, meds, shot records, etc along with a list of their docs, a few toys/coloring books, a bottle of water, a snack, and a laminated list with our info, and names and phone numbers of our family and emergency contacts (including ones out of town, a flash light, and a glow stick. This way, if we had to evac and got separated, someone could 1) treat them in a medical emergency & 2) contact some family member (even if it was someone out of state).
