Best mineral supplement??

Hi all! I seem to remember there's been some discussion about the best form of mineral supplementation, and I can't find it anywhere in old threads. Something about the best form -- chelated -- ???? I can't even remember, I just remember there is some standard.

It's for my son, who is working with some dental issues -- we already do nettle infusion and bone broths and epsom salts baths, but on days he doesn't get that in him, I'd like to be able to give him a pill, because I really want to make sure he's getting it every day for his teeth. He can swallow pills, even big ones.

So...your favorite mineral supplement, or things I should look for in a supplement??

The two brands that I like are Perque and Thorne. Perque Bone Guard Forte seems very nice, subtle indicators I can see in myself and the kids make it look well-absorbed. The downside is that it's a full-size adult pill, but it sounds like that may be fine for your son. I think 1/day is plenty, I usually only give 2-3 per week and try to include other good mineral sources daily, but of course we miss sometimes.

www.vitalbee.com sells some Perque stuff--sometimes they're out of the Bone Guard, you just need to check.

Much more affordable is Thorne's multimineral supps, though they don't have the range of trace minerals that the Perque does. They've got some that are cal only, or cal/mag, or more broad multi-mineral supps, the names that I remember are biomins and citramins (the latter is mostly mineral citrates, I forget what the former is). Sold lots of places online. These are normal capsule size.

Thank you! I am checking into both of those now.

Anyone have an opinion on the Source Naturals multi-mineral? It gets really good reviews, but doesn't have K1/K2 and some of the trace minerals.

BUMP

I need more info on this as well...I am dairy free and do bone broths but then sometimes can't or don't (like in the summer). I can tell my same tooth is having a problem again!

I am checking out NOW Bone Strength

6 caps is the daily dosage but I am not planning on taking it all the time...3 caps would give you 500mg calcium.

Newcastlemama, have you tried cell salts? They've reduced the amount of several supps for us, enough that they're actually saving us money. I'm using the kind with lactose, we all seem to tolerate them just fine, but if you really need to avoid any trace of dairy, there are sucrose based ones as well (that are more expensive).
