pre-rinse with a squirt of Bac-Out by Bio-kleen
it's a must to avoid the stinkies

Something to consider when thinking about the amount of water being used to wash the diapers is that the washing machine waste water is usually recycled in a water treatment plant. So it's not wasted, exactly. And if you use "green" detergents it's much less polluted then the waste water used to make disposable diapers, so take that into consideration as well!

cut out the rinse at the end - is there some reason you thought they needed that?

my washing is just a regular warm/cold wash like I do for pretty much all our laundry. OK, so honestly, if my load was entirely diapers, I'd probably do a prewash + regualr wash but often I wouldn't have a full load of diapers so I woudl toss in the wet ones with regualr laundry. In my way of thinking, If I'm washing my 1st grader's pee-soaked bedding, and my preschoolers pee-soaked pants, I can include my babies pee-soaked prefolds. and that's a normal wahs, no soak/prewash/rinse going on.
