fall book basket

What's in yours!

I have only a few books, and since I'm gearing up for my favorite holiday, I am going to borrow some inspiration

In our book basket:
Woody Hazel and Lil Pip
Children of the Forest
It's Fall! Celebrate the Seasons
Apple Farmer Annie

And that's it!
Alternatively - what do you do to "ring in fall?" Instead of a nature table for this fall, I'm going to decorate DD's fairy tree house with all things fall including felted acorns, felted little fall dolls etc. I can't wait to go pumpkin/apple picking and decorate our home either

Woody Hazel and Lil Pip
Children of the Forest
Autumn by Gerda Muller
The Little Yellow Leaf
I am a little squirrel

That's all I can think of right now.

I love the seasonal book threads!

For fall we have a couple of the ones mentioned above, and also:

Autumn at Brambly Hedge
Squirrel Nutkin
Johnny Appleseed
Leaf Man
Nuts to You!

I would love to get some more book ideas for fall

Many of what has been shared....plus

Christopher's Harvest
Pumpkin Moonshine
Wild Child
Apple Cake
Herbst
Flower Fairies of Autumn

So not all of these are "Waldorf"...like straight from Steiner books, but love them all for their seasonal goodness all the same .

Oh and I just got the Autumn/Winter tales of Tiptoes Lightly it's called The Festival of Stones. It is a sequel of sorts (my understanding) to The Tales of Tiptoes Lightly...which we LOVE in our house!

Yes...and it should. It is a perfect chapter-ish type book to read to little ones. My 3 yo loves it. There are darling tales in it (with very limited drawings). We are big Tiptoes fans here .

seriously... how will I ever catch up on my wish list if everyone keeps recommending such great books?

we just unpacked books and i realized our autumn collection in very limited... '

i usually ring in fall by printing up stories like the apple star, michael and the dragon, etc and center craft time around those stories.

we also keep a nature table by the door that we fill with items we collect on our walks- we change the table up as the items collected start to change.

Great ideas...

Here are three more on my list to get that I've seen recommended before.
Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson
The Story of the Wind Children by Sibylle Olfers
Harvest by Kris Waldherr

we read st. george and the dragon tonight! i love the copy we have- the artwork is so... nostalgic...

reading it really makes it feel more like autumn... for whatever reason, autumn really feels more fantastical than any other season.
