Did you get pregnant when you DTD long before O?

Thread Starter
I`we been reading a lot about how long the swimmers can live, and for the most part it says about 3-4 days. Some also say 5-6 days, and a few up to 7 days!
This cycle, we DTD on CD9, night to a Monday.
I tested O tests for the first time. Saturday morning it was positive, Saturday evening it was positive, and Sunday mid-day it was even more positive (Sat. morning & evening the test-line and the other line was equal, Sunday the other line was stronger in colour than the test-line.)
This is the first time I`ve tested for O. As far as I can tell, I probably Ovulated on Sunday(?), wich was CD14. I tought I would ovulate earlier, because my cycle the last three months have been 25, 27 and 26 days.
I`ve always been pregnant easily, but I don`t really think there is a hope for this cycle, unless they are really superswimmers. I must have ovulated 6-7 days after we DTD.

So, if you have gotten pregnant when you DTD a long time before O, i would love to read your story. How long before etc.

Ps; hope I have these "shortcut" words right, you guys use shorten words only for so many words, and I don`t know them all.

I got pregnant with my son from DTD 5 days before O. He's the only one I charted with, so I don't know about any of the others.

Good luck to you!

I havent (yet), but wanted to point out that your shorter cycle length doesn't necessarily mean you will O earlier. You more than likely have a varying luteal phase - meaning you always O around the same time (say CD14) but you have an lp of 10-14 days that varies. Do you chart temperature or CM?

Good luck! The most I've heard is that they can live 5 days in a perfect environment.

I thought it was the opposite of this...that your O date may vary but the length of your luteal phase tends to stay about the same.

Now that I read what you wrote, maybe you're right, WTH. Hmm.

I guess you're probably more right!

I think both can vary, but LP doesn't usually vary more than a day or 2 whereas O can even be MIA some months!

I've heard the same lifespan for swimmers. 2-3 days is average. 5 you would need some prime environmental conditions (ie/ lots of fertile CM to keep them alive) and 7 would be rare but not impossible.

the farthest out from o was 6 days and we had very very little mucus so thought we were safe and avoided for about 12 days. That is how we got my daughter
