Is this diaper rash? What to do?

My 11 week old has a few areas of slightly raised, red, really really dry skin in her diaper area. One of the spots is on her vulva, and the others are next to her leg folds.

We CD and I've been applying olive-oil based diaper salve and letting her air dry today. I noticed it last night, but it's gotten worse today.

It sounds like what my dd has. In her case it is a yeast rash.

My midwife recommends putting breastmilk on diaper rash. Luckily we haven't had the opportunity to try it except a brief spell during a heatwave which quickly passed, so I'm not sure if it works. But hey, it's free and I'm sure it can't hurt!

Sounds lime yeast to me, too. My DSbwas just diagnosed with that last week. His pedi prescribed a special cream and told us we could use Lotrimin, as well. I would recommend you taking her in to mak sure that's what she has, though. From what I understand, it doesn't go away on it's own.

Diluted vinegar or diluted hydrogen peroxide will help a yeast rash.

UPDATE: When I got home from work last night, there was a similar red, raised, very very dry patch on her elbow -- bigger than the other areas (the ones in her diaper area are about the size of dimes, and the elbow patch is a little less than two quarters). What could that mean??

This morning the diaper area blotches are all dried up and flaky/scabby looking -- kind of like excema. I'm thoroughly confused.

We have battled with thrush before, but I didn't even think about yeast. I thought a yeast diaper rash looked more like spots?

Also, thanks very much for the breastmilk reminder!
