I've been a little busy so haven't been able to post until now...My water broke while camping on the 19th (he came 10 days early so it was quite the surprise...) After 16 hours of hard labor, 7 hours of pushing (he got stuck so I had to get him back up then push him back down again...not what you want to hear after hours of pushing), he flew out forehead first into the water and we finally got to meet our beatiful baby boy! Baby Yannick was born at home in a birth pool on July 20th. He weighed 8 lbs, 14 oz and 20 1/2 ". Onto a new chapter of our lives! he's amazing!

Wow, having to push him then get him back up (how? open hands knees position?) aNd then down again.... how did you keep up your strength during that?

Did you leave the campsite right away when you water broke? ?I am imagining you [portaging or something.

Congratulations Mama, and thanks for the update!

ETA - just realized our babies were born the same day!

I had to breathe through contractions while my face was down and my bum up to get him unstuck and back up again. I was so exhausted but determined not to go to the hospital so I started chugging protein shakes and juice etc to get my energy back up. Yes, we packed things up and left the campsite right away, even though it turns out we had plenty of time...
