If you had a late baby and an early baby...

were they both fully cooked?

I just have a feeling I'm going to have this one sooner rather than later. My first two were on their due dates, and my third was 41 weeks. Is there any reason to think that this one might not be ready at 36/37 weeks?

My first baby was 40w5d and he was .4 ounces shy of 10 lbs. Fully cooked, I'd say. My second baby was 35w5d. She was 6 lbs. 13 ounces. No nicu, no problems. Just a little jaundice, but so did baby one. My third baby was exactly on her due date at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and then my fourth one was a week and a half before due date and 7 lbs. 13 oz. So your baby could be just fine or could have minor problems. By the way, all of my babies have borderline high numbers of jaundice, just under the cutoff for the lights regardless of when they were born. But just as in birth, one baby can be born with no problems but yet another one could have a minor or major problem. Why do you think you won't go past 36/37 weeks??

At 41w4d I had an 8lb 12 oz boy and at 38w1d I had a 7lb 9oz girl. No problems with either one.

What's going on?

Not much really. I've just had a "feeling" all along that I won't go as long with this one. I was having quite a few contractions last night, but I drank a bunch of water and they went away. I didn't think I was dehydrated, but realized after I came in from playing outside with the kids I drank tea instead of water. So...I guess I messed myself up. I'm fine this a.m. I'm 36+5.

I only have one and I just knew she was going to be early. She was 37 weeks 3 days. They missed that she was jaundice in the hospital and then had to be hospitalized for a week because by the time it was caught it was SUPER SEVERE! Anyways I just wrote this to say that you might be right. I just knew that she was going to be early and she was. Also everyone said she was going to be late because she was my first. I knew 3 things about here, she was a girl, she was going to be small, (Not a giant like her dad was born at almost 10 lbs) and she was going to be early. I was right on all 3 accounts. She was 6 lbs 7 oz btw. Not small but not big.

Ds was born at 40w5d and was 8Lbs 2oz.

Dd was born at 37w2d and was 6Lbs 14oz. She was totally fine and healthy but she did seem early-ish. She dropped to 6 lbs and was just so wee. She was super covered in vernix and she had mild jaundice for 6 weeks. It was harder for her to work out the jaundice. We put her in the sun a lot. We never went under the lights since she was born at home. She was also generally sleepier than her brother had been, even for a newborn. Nothing really scary or worrisome just different things to deal with.

DD1 - born after induction 41w4d. 9lbs 13oz. Almost done, maybe could have used another day. She didn't have the "post-date" look to her (and I am 100% on her conception date).

DD2 - born on her own 39w3d. 9lbs 10oz. Totally done.

I think I had some "stuff" going on with #1 that kept her in a bit longer. She was also terribly positioned basically trying to come out my right hip. With DD2 I had a better/more attentive midwife who worked to keep her out of my hip and head engaged. I really think that helped. Also got great positioning advice in labor that made a world of difference.
