TV stress - Page 3

Update:

So when my BIL was in town my DH and him moved our computer into our new office (my old yoga room) and in the process DH said "I don't think we need this TV anymore. Let's give it away."

WOOOO-HOOOOOOO. So now all I have to do is get the SA to pick it up and get it out of my garage to be truly a TV free household!

Have you thought about getting rid of the TV and just getting an IPAD something? That's what we do to get our rare TV fix, and the nice thing is you can put it away easily, your use is very intentional because you download what you want and you can watch it when you want. Plus, there's no looming TV in the house.

We don't do tv very often. We do watch tv I would say 2-4X a week max. When we watch tv we usually do a little house on the prairie as a family thing. I put the tv in a armoire that has doors that can be closed where it is not the center of attention. If someone would walk into my house they would not even think we had a tv

I have notice that when I have used the tv more frequently in the past, my children would "act up" or constantly want to be entertained.... And their play time was not as productive as it is now. I really see a huge difference in my children using much less tv. It is very important that I recognized what my children watch when we are viewing too, otherwise it is a disaster after!! I used to use the tv from time to time as a reprieve, if I needed to do something important, phone call, dinner quickly ect. But I always pay after.... so now I am just grateful that we worked through it and they just start to play and pretend themselves instead!!!
