I have mediation tomorrow and I'm nervous - Update!!!

Pretty sure my ex wont show. He's a broke fugitive hiding in CO. I'm not really sure why mediation was even requested honestly. I already have a restraining order and custody. Maybe to discuss child support? I'm not even counting on ever getting any... We have our "final" court day on Thursday.

I'm bringing my daughter because they say to bring kids that are six and older, and she's really close to it. She's excited about getting to play in the kids waiting room with all their toys.

My tummy hurts and I don't want to go. I hate court stuff.

Well of course he didn't show. So I sat in the waiting room for over an hour. Then the mediator told me that I could go. I have no idea what this means for me and my custody case.

Guess I'll find out in court on Thursday.

yuck. at least nothing bad happened, but waiting is no fun. certainly this isn't going to win him any points.

(DDC crashing as a former single mama who went through divorce/custody in CA)..

I believe that mediation is mandatory for all divorces with child custody issues in the state of California. Your STBX's absence will be noted in the court file. I missed a mediation session with my ex-DH (prior to a hearing on my move away request, which occurred two years after the final divorce trial) because I'd given birth to DS#3 the day before and was still in the hospital. Because I'd called the mediation department prior to the appointment to let them know that I wouldn't be able to make it and the reason why (and also faxed my discharge ppwk to them the day that I got home), my absence was not counted against me.

The final court day was today. I got full physical and full legal custody. No visitation to dad. Zayla and I also have a restraining order against him good for five years!

It went so much faster and better than I expected.
