Crazy looking stool in 4 yo -Freaked out!

I am feeling kind of freaked out about my son's poop today. We were out and he had to go and when it was time to help him clean up, I noticed something that looked like a thick strand of mucous and when the toilet paper hit it-I know this is totally TMI, sorry-it broke apart and the mucous like unfolded into what looked like a large, square sheet of thick, jelly like mucous. He is SPD and we have a family history of yeast/allergies so I have been trying to watch things more closely lately to identify possible intolerances but this is like nothing I have seen before. He also has a cold right now and has seemed sick for a couple of weeks off and on, common cold symptoms though. My seven month old has also been super grumpy, restless, and has had green poop for a week now. Any ideas what this might be or even tips on the best way to google it?

He may just be swallowing a lot of mucus because of his cold. If it keeps up well after the cold, then you may want to see if it's allergy related.

I agree with the PP. In kids especially, it's not uncommon to swallow quite a bit of mucus.

Yeah, that sounds like it might be related to the cold. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you notice it persists over time. They may even have picked up a mild tummy bug, even-- sometimes if they're fighting something like that off, the only symptoms you'll see are some unusual stools.

I've seen all kinds of bizarre things emerge from my kids, in terms of stool , and they've always been just fine. I only worry about the things that don't go away after a week or two.
