Poop!!!

OK, so we switched our new dog over to raw. So far only low-sodium chicken, but she is a pug so apparently eats everything in site including lately the compost.

I also switched her to eating on time/day about a week after switching to raw as it was just easier. But...for the last two nights she has pooped in her kennel, and tonight she pooped in the hallway about 10 minutes before her evening run.

My thoughts: This is a dog version of a human garbage disposal, and until she is trained better she needed to be strictly separated from anything vaguely related to food and I know I have slacked in this the past few days.

Long intro, made into short question: how often do your dogs poop/day and what kind of time between feeding raw and pooping do you look for?

How is her poop? Nice and solid or is it soft and/or runny? Just thinking that if it's not solid her tummy may be a bit irritated and that's why she can't hold it. If it's soft then I'd consider a few things: you may be feeding a bit too much, may need a bit bone, remove organ meat if you are feeding any till she adjusts.

If it's not that then I suspect it's the extra stuff she's eating that is providing so much bulk that she has to poop more often. So it may not be really related to her diet as to all the other stuff she's eating. For my dogs, it depends on the dog - one poops twice per day (morning and evening) and one once a day (either morning or afternoon). They are fed (raw) once a day around 8pm, so between their afternoon and evening outings. It takes a while for food to be digested and come out the other end UNLESS something upsets their tummy, in which case it's normally like 8 hrs or less and they urgently need to go out (usually in the middle of the night - figures right?).

Have you tried attaching her to you with a leash so you can keep an eye on her potty signs? And maybe taking her out more often? My two are on a 3x per day potty schedule but if we adopted a new dog or a puppy I'd be taking them out much more frequently, probably at least 5-6 times per day depending on how things were going.
