Green Poops -- Do I need to worry?

My 6 week old son has been having consistently green poopies for the past few days. I know I have an oversupply and OALD (Right breast only), and have been block nursing to deal with those issues. Well, ok, he had a green poop at about 3 weeks, I freaked out and did research and started block nursing immediately, and the green poops disappeared within a day or so, but then I got lazy and stopped block nursing and a couple of weeks later his poopies are green again. Usually seedy... occasionally they are mucousy.

Should I worry, or just continue with the block nursing? I've only gotten really diligent about it again in the last 36 hours or so. (Also, the block nursing did not seem to help with the oversupply or OALD the last time I tried it. I wonder if that is because I only have those troubles in one breast?)

I BFed my DD (who is now 8) for 17 months, and while we had our problems (a birth defect in her nose and persistent thrush) I cannot remember ever seeing a green poop unless she was on antibiotics.

I feel like I should know what I'm doing... but obviously I don't.

While green poop *can* be an indication of some digestion difficulties, it is usually fine. If your LO is aobut 6 weeks old he may be going through a growth spurt, causing a bit of an imbalance in your milk for a few days. Blockfeeding is a good solution to try.
Usually the issue is when the poop is greenish and very very very frothy or very very very mucousy. Also, as your LO gets older, the poop gets greener if you don't change it immediately. It may be coming out yellowish, but by the time you get to change him it may be turning green, even if it was only a few minutes later. (I'm not implying that you or anyone else let's their little one sit in a bad dipe, it just starts to change colors within a minute or two).
However, if this persists for more than 2 weeks with green frothy poop, you may then start to consider if your diet is affecting your child... i.e. milk/dairy intolerance.
Good luck!

Hmmm.. interesting. I did not know "old" poop could turn green... Though, it usually only gets as old as it takes for him to finish nursing... (since it seems he only knows how to poop with a nipple in his mouth -- sigh).

I'll keep up the block nursing, but any other advice is welcome!
