It's a new week - new chat! August 17-23 - Page 2

I can't tell for sure, but I think baby is head down, because I feel lots of moving and pushing movements up at the top that might be feet, and then sometimes a larger, roundish part in the middle that might be her bottom... honestly, I have no idea, but breech is my worst nightmare!

Well, I'm open to ideas! We don't know gender so super-cute GN clothes are awesome, or sweet little toys, or accessories that are GN, etc. It's a little money I earned on my own and so I'm ready to totally splurge with it, even if it's not THAT much.

I think my babe has finally settled into head down... but was all over the place a couple weeks ago.

I visited my grandparents today. My grandma is finally talking to me about the baby/pregnancy. I kinda like having skipped over all the awkward feelings part... well.. the discussion of awkward feelings and negativity, I should say. My papa has finally given his gender prediction (he's been right every time so far), he says BOY... so we shall see, lol. I've been feeling boy the past few days as well.

We've got some of these teethers. They are so super smooth in your hand. So well crafted.

Love these shirts. Considering the bunny one for dd2's 2nd b-day.

And then there's all the yummy non-traditional baby quilts. I still like to look even though I made the babe's already.

This mobile is super cute.

These little owls make me smile.

Seriously, I could hang out on etsy and browse all.day.long.

Happy shopping!

It's over my budget but since DH likes it he says I should get it, anyway.

I'm IN Victoria! PM me if you want to get together for a coffee or something while you're here.

Heather - sorry to hear about the house, but it must be a relief to have a decision made, as opposed to being in limbo. You'll be that much more prepared next year when you're ready to sell.

We are a chatty bunch - 1 day in, and the weekly thread is already on page 2!

AFM, today after dh's work we headed out to bil's farm (where our family vegetable garden is) and harvested beans, beets, and potatoes galore! I checked up on everything else - our corn is probably a writeoff (cold June, so it didn't germinate well or get started well), but the sugar pumpkins are great! I also planted a couple of canteloupe plants, but I can't tell yet if we'll get anything. We also picked about 10 lbs of blackberries for jam and beer (dh makes an awesome blackberry porter at Christmastime), then took a dip in their pool, which make all the toiling in the heat worth it. We're going to head out several more times while the weather's good - it is TOO HOT and I am just not handling it well.

Yawn - dd2 was up several times last night, and I am TIRED. Off to bed for me. See you all tomorrow!

Bobbi, that sounds like a fantastic day! I have long wished to have a good garden, but we've never made a real go of it. I suppose it'll be a while yet, since we still don't know where we'll settle in the long term.

It is definitely good - or will be, I guess - not to be in limbo anymore. But it's also really hard to adjust to the idea of NOT being in preparation to move. I was starting to tell DH today about the great shower curtain I found to put in the boys' new bathroom - and then realized there IS no new bathroom. Oh, well. We haven't told the boys that we're not moving (yet), but I was telling the little ones about shifting rooms around, and they were very excited about that.

Those are too cute! I think you made a good decision.

I bought a couple of long-sleeve maternity shirts yesterday at Goodwill. I'm assuming that it actually will get cold here again, though it's hard to imagine when it's been so hot for so long. I'm hoping that the cuter one will still fit at that point - it didn't look all that long.

Love that set, Heather!

Got my floradix last night. I bought the pills. They have angelica in them. I thought that was a pg no-no? Anyone else have it with angelica root in it?

Also realized yesterday I had been so busy I had no real fruits or veggies. I had onion soup and a baked potato for dinner, and tomato (from garden) heavy lasagna at lunch, but don't really count that. So I hugged a bunch of V8 fruit stuff and now I'm having a smoothie. I'm such a bad girl!

People can say the most ignorant things sometimes.

I'm waddling my way out of work yesterday and there is a guy behind me on the stairs. And he looks at me and is like, "when are you due?" I told him Halloween. (just easier that way lol) And he blinked and stared at my stomach... "wow, that's pretty far away yet for how big you are no? isn't it like 3 months?"

I told him it's 10 weeks which is pretty soon to me!

I was all excited yesterday about it only being 10 weeks and how soon that feels, and then this guy. eww!

And yes, I know I look huge this time... but DS is like all kinds of all up front.

meh.

I'm with you Phoenix---I mean, I'm so big we're wondering if it's twins. And if it turns out it's not, that just means I'M HUGE!

With both of my last two pregnancies in which I carried all out front, my UPS guys (2 different ones) were convinced I was having undiagnosed twins. Convinced to the point of one brought me a photo of his twin nieces where the second one was a surprise. Thanks dudes.

Can anyone explain why even though I have horrible heart burn, all I want to eat is spicy food? We are going through Sriracha at an alarming rate....
LOL! I hear you on spicy foods/heart burn! I would love to eat some of my Dad's hot peppers from the garden, but know how much I'll pay for it, so have stayed away. Like at first my mind is like... mmm, hot sauce!... then 5 seconds later my mind mulls it over... ugh, I can already tast the reflux, what are you thinking?!

Anybody else's kids driving them nuts today? Grrrrr.... I'm dealing with very low energy levels, and trying to get our stuff from holidays cleaned up, and the kids are all fighting and making me insane! I think they miss their dad (he's back at work after 2 wonderful weeks of holidays)...

Back to the slog...

Phoenix-sorry about the rude guy. I also was told yesterday I look ready to "pop". They didn't believe that I had 3 months left. I know I'm huge, but you really shouldn't keep commenting about it to the swollen pissy pregnant lady.

Yes, yes they are! But today is better than yesterday. This is my last day of having all 4 here (2 mine, 2 not) until school starts on Tuesday. I'm, um, happy (delighted, excited, relieved, counting the minutes) until the little girl goes off to school all day! The blank looks when I ask her to clean up her part of the toy mess have started to get old. And I keep pointing out that I can't bend very well...but she's clueless.

And my neighbor, who for some reason I haven't seen in a while, took a look at me yesterday and said wow, I was really big. I mean, seriously? I don't think I look that big. Pregnant, yes, but not gigantic. All the more reason to stay inside in the air conditioning.

hello ladies-- I've been MIA for a couple weeks but wanted to jump back in and catch up!
I was dealing with a ton of stress, mostly relating to bills and my health insurance-- its supposed to be rather good insurance but they keep making clerical mistakes, dropping me from the rolls, screwing my enrollment dates and just generally refusing to pay. I've been seeing my dr every 2 weeks throughout the 2nd trimester with frequent ultrasounds to check for twin-twin transfusion, etc sooooo those bills are quickly adding up. Still not sure it's resolved but at least I have people working on it. It's made me really hesitant to start buying baby gear because I don't know how our budget is going to look in the next month or so. We haven't purchased car seats or anything major yet... just a couple little outfits.

Physically I'm still feeling pretty good and the babies are doing great. I feel a bit squished in the ribs-- they have been consistently one vertex/one breech and still flipping-- but when one flips so does the other. I'm sure it's more comfy for them that way but I'd be happy to have the head removed from my rib cage! I've gained almost as much as I had by full-term with my singletons... and I've quit correcting all the strangers who assume I'm due any day now.

We've also been doing lots of camping this summer-- sounds like there are a bunch of us enjoying the outdoors! Dh and the kids are camping right now and I'll be joining them on the weekend. Summer is certainly flying by and I can't believe it's almost time for the kids to go back to school. I'm not feeling ready for fall just yet!

You're not alone, mama. Mine have sipped the same water, too apparently. My almost 9 y/o jumped off his bunk bed and landed on his sister's head who was lying on the floor of his room. Lots of screaming ensued. We've had lots of screaming today. Screaming does not make for a happy mama.

Fortunately though dh is taking all of them to the park now so I can get in some study time. My big exam is this Friday. If I pass I'll have my Master's in Nursing. I feel fairly good about it but the thought of years of studying riding on this one exam really stresses me out.

Okay, gotta go capitalize on the quiet time in my house now. Time to break out the chocolate and the rescue remedy and get down to studying. I'm sure I'll be back in a bit to check for any twin announcements!

I just took apart my a/c window unit to clean it...

Bobbi - I'd love to get together! The friends we are staying with will probably be working during the week, so I'll have time to meet up. I'm up for anything, coffee, tea, ocean time, baby-shopping, preggo chatting at your place, whatever! I will send you a PM closer to our arrival date

Birthdancedoula - great Etsy links!! I totally love Etsy, too - the best part of having my own shop there is all the awesome trades I get to make with other sellers! Trades are AWESOME.
