It's a new week - new chat! August 17-23 - Page 4

It seems I'm a little behind on here...I've been trying to keep up, but I've been busy around the house, too.

Nic--sorry about the swelling...that's got to be uncomfortable in this heat, too. I am thankful that I haven't had trouble with that, or with bad vericose veins, yet. My mom's side of the family has terrible vericose veins, so I'm destined to deal with them at some point. I have alot of spider veins and more visible large veins due to pregnancy, but so far none have popped up. I remember my mom having to be off her feet alot when she was carrying my brother because her legs hurt so badly. I really don't like to think about that.

Ashley--congrats on passing your midwifery boards! That is so exciting!

I am one very blessed wife in that my hubby actually doesn't mind helping out with housework one bit. He'll do laundry, wash dishes, and vaccuum at the drop of a hat. He's even been known to clean the bathrooms and dust a time or two! Oh, and he can cook, too! When he was in school and I was working full-time, he was a huge help around the house. Now that I am at home and he's working, I try to keep up with everything myself...but I did warn him last night that there are certain things I'm just not feeling up to these days. And since we have a huge houseful of people coming for dinner tomorrow night, he's going to get to help me with some of those this evening.

Congrats Ashley! That's AMAZING!!!!

Alright ladies---I'm off for two weeks to the land of no internet! I may be able to check in and say hello at the end of the week, but not sure. Until then, keep those babies growing, stay cool, and enjoy the last bit of summer!

Congratulations, Ashley! How exciting for you, and what a relief!

Nic, my DH lost his temper the other day because he said that me and DD have not been cleaning up after ourselves lately, and there's too much clutter everywhere that doesn't belong there. He's very neat, and helps with housework, which is great, but making me feel bad about myself when I'm feeling crappy and trying to juggle work, kids and household stuff really sucked. I guess neither extreme is good, huh?

I've been feeling so not-good, lately. I've been exhausted, more nauseated than I had been, feeling like my belly is huge and heavy, having lots of really uncomfortable BH, not sleeping well, sciatica, etc. I guess it's just 3rd trimester stuff. It doesn't help that we've been crazy busy around here, and I've had very little time to do anything for myself. I know things are going to be so much crazier after the baby is here, but I'm really ready to just deal with that, versus this!

I've been having a hard time keeping up with everybody's news, sorry! May the Force be with us as we all get bigger and more uncomfortable!

Congrats Ashley that is such an awesome accomplishment! How exciting!!

mzminty- I'm sorry to hear you are having a rough time right now, hopefully things will start to get a bit easier!

Alisson- enjoy the rest of your summers as well!

Lemoncello- Our dh's sound alike. Mine thankfully is very helpful.

Those chocolate peanutbutter smoothies so good as does the original Dr. Pepper! Too bad I can't even think about those things or my blood sugar seems to spike

My hip was killing me today, my chiro isn't in till next week and we don't get a paycheck till the 3rd so I'm really trying my best to just cope with it for now. I would get out my birthing ball to sit on but not sure that would be great for my spd.
Not sure what we are gonna do this weekend, probably unpack some more and get more settled in our house.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

birthdance, so exciting! congrats!

ellen, how did you do on the bedroom cleanup? we did pretty well.. there are still things i want to do..put up curtains ect, but we got it cleaned and moved around. we even had my nieces here and they played and it only took a second to tidy up. im doing minimal toys in there on rotation to keep it less crazy. seems to work

mzminty: that's not fair..partners are NOT supposed to give their pregnant wives a hard time. no matter what. my dp has made a few comments but i always chew him out for it. i bust my ass and do a great job of housekeeping and taking care of the little ones..if i need a day or even an hour to rest i frigging well will. and if im exhausted and my house is a mess well then he should step up and take over for a while. they have NO idea how much we do.
men can be such jerks

avasmom: sorry you are hurting. i get a sore hop as well, my left..but only if i sit/lie down in the day then dont actually rest. its like my body telling me to take it easy. if im up and about its fine and when i wake up in the morning or actually have a rest that i relax for a while its fine. its weird!

im tired, but happy. i made a double batch of chocolate chocolate chip zucchini cake today with a HUGE zucchini from my garden! i made 2 cakes (its the YUMMIEST and easiest cake recipe..
from this blog. ) using 4 cups of grated squash, then froze 3 bags of 4 cups each grated.. many more cakes to come! that's 16 cups plus i took out the middle seedy pulpy stuff.. the best part was that it wasn't even the tinest bit woody at all.. just tender and sweet! im hoping for a few more monsters like that! ill stock my freezer for the whole winter/spring!

anyways, my Sil and my nieces were here for supper and ive got one sleeping over and she and my DS are giggling away.. im so ready for sleep!
so im going to encourage them by getting off of here

night night!

I have a recurring bad feeling (not a dream, exactly) where dh and my 2 older kids are killed in a plane crash. They are due to fly to my sil's wedding in Michigan next month, along with my entire inlaw family. My 2.5 year old and I are the only 2 not going to the wedding. I really hope it's just my pregnancy hormones dwelling on the worst possible scenario (it's happened in every pregnancy, I get some awful scenario stuck in my head and it festers and festers). I hope.

I'm sorry your dh lost his temper - men just don't understand what it's like to be pregnant. I hope the upcoming days are better for you.

Have a great trip, Alisson!

Hey Fern - I posted on your FB, but I have an awesome zucchini relish recipe if you'd like it - I made a double batch last year, and it only used 8 cups of grated zucchini (I had a giant one from my mom's garden to use up). Let me know.

We had an awesome evening at "the farm" (bil's blueberry farm) - picked blueberries, blackberries and strawberries, had a swim in their pool, ate a yummy dinner and enjoyed awesome company. A wonderful, loooooong summer evening.

Oh, and I stopped by one of the local consignment stores today to look for a bathing suit (my old one is DEAD), and I found 3 brand new Glamourmom nursing tanks in my size, marked down to $20 each! (Reg price was $65 each). They're the old style, which is why they're discounted so much, but oh well - I'm wearing one right now and it's super comfy. Yay for great deals!

Not too bad, though there is still some to go. I spent a lot of time sorting legos and my back didn't appreciate that one so much. I found stuff in there that I thought we had gotten rid of 5 years ago. The stuff that annoys me is not the toys, its all the crap, er...sentimental keepsakes, I mean, that my husband thinks we should keep. He is such a packrat and this house doesn't have enough storage. However, I was able to toss/donate quite a few things, so I should try to be positive!

Hope everybody has a great weekend! I'm off to my writers critique group today and am so excited!

Julie-I'm sorry he yelled at you. He has no right!

I decided last night to chart how much I've actually been eating after having constant headaches and floaties for awhile now. I know it's not my bp-that's low as usual. But this is like my pg with my ds. I had low blood sugar constantly and I think I'm anemic this time. Sure enough after charting what I ate, I only had one tiny protein portion or carb portion (besides cupcakes) yesterday and it was farirly atrocious. So I spent a few hours gorging myself on stuff to make up for it-a huge green smoothie, grapefruit, pump seeds, peanuts, string cheese, cottage cheese, you name it. I felt a thousand times better. So I'm going to keep tracking myself to make sure I'm doing alright nutritionally.

Also, is dtd totally akward and uncomfortable for anyone else? It never is for me until like 9+ months pg, but I feel like I have a huge spiky watermelon on my stomach that is making it impossible.
dtd has felt weird the last few times. Uncomfortable, strange, awkward. Doesn't help that DH says things feel different He wasn't trying to be mean, just stating a fact. We've had to move to couch/chair positions in order for things to work.

Aww Julie, I'm sorry he yelled at you... my hubby and I have gone round and round a few times about the house in our marriage. Now that he's home he gets it but before I would tell him I am NOT a housewife, I am a mother first, wife second and then the house... which really the house often gets put off even more than that. There's so much I do in a day and really I can always find something better to do than clean.

Kittywitty, my diet has been atrocious recently as well. I'm turning over a new leaf this morning... I made tea and oatmeal, I really want to aim to eat a bowl of oatmeal a day. I see floaters and have for awhile now, even before pregnancy. I think mine has to do with low bp as well.. though get this I had a period of higher than normal bp for me and it was at the same time as my last pregnancy as well. So I'm assuming it must be a normal change for my body... and by higher than normal I mean 120ish/70-80ish. Still in the ok, safe range... but in the past week or so it's been back down between 100-110/60-70. Anyway.. I was pondering anemia as well because I've had a few moments of extreme weakness and tired/lacking motivation. I have some slow-fe pills that I bought after my miscarriage but had no need for them (I felt oddly great after my miscarriage) so I've been debating taking them... not sure how I could test my iron on my own.. (refuse to go back in to WIC, though my numbers were good there)
Oh! Meant to add about dtd, we have lots of pillows to prop me up and yes.. it is rather awkward. My parts feel a lot more swollen than they normally do and he's always worried about triggering something, lol. (labor, water breaking) We haven't been dtd anywhere near as much as normal for us....
I haven't tested for anemia, either. But I figured the floradix can't hurt and I was anemic as a kid. I think I'm usually borderline anyway the last few times I've ever been tested.
I was low with all of the boys, my daughter I was not... but seeing as I don't know gender :P I should probably get some floradix... I'll have to look into that.
It seems to be cheapest on amazon. I have a $2 coupon but no idea how to use it except at a store...and they don't have floradix around here but it would be super expensive to buy except online from what I've heard.

awww that would be awesome! We will be in town either the 30th-2nd or 31st-3rd so if something happens that you think we could meet up between those times please pm me.

Ashley super congrats

I have been running around like crazy the past few days. The sale of our property came through and so we have had a lot of no fun business type of stuff that we had to get done. We ended up going the grown up route and paying off a lot of debt so we have fewer bills and stuff now but I cant help but be a little sad that we were not able to have more fun with the money. We are also looking for a bigger place to rent now that we have more money for bills. When we signed the lease for this place we didn't know I was pregnant and we definitely didn't know we were pregnant with twins! So the landlady is being super nice and letting us out of our lease when/if we find a place. 3 bedrooms was stretching it a little with 5 kids but with 7? Yeah, no way. Wish us luck finding a place with 4-5 bedrooms is starting to look near impossible.
Sasha - house hunting is no fun! But good for you to pay off the bills. I sometimes regret not having fun with money like that, but in the end, it's better to have more money on a regular basis.

Nic - even if your blood pressure is in a normal range, if it's high FOR YOU, that can be concerning. That's why docs/mws like to have a baseline to work from.

Bah! I am soooooo bored! I'm working at the shop today. We've been open three hours and not a single customer has come in. I usually have a group of ladies who come and knit on Saturday mornings, but they are camping as a group this weekend. Combine that with sitting at home all day yesterday (while DH and DS are out of town), and it's been 36+ hours since I talked to anyone but the guy who pumped my gas yesterday morning.
(and as soon as I finished typing that, someone came in. Looking for help that I couldn't provide )

The numbers that become concerning are when it's up 30 from your systolic baseline and 20 for your diastolic. I had a very similar bp pattern from my daughter... and I'm assuming my sons as well. (and I never quite hit those numbers... it's high for me but still in the safe range)

Glad you know that already

I may be spacey sometimes but I do try and keep the real important information in my head. I've also tried to educate myself even further about the risks because I am UP'ing.
