I haven't been away for the weekend, without my kids, since my oldest was born 15.5 years ago, although both girls have attended sleepaway camp. The first time I left the girls overnight was when I was hospitalized; they were about 2 and 3 at the time. I wouldn't have left the 2yo overnight if I'd had any say in the matter, although the 3yo was ready for a weekend with grandparents or an aunt and uncle.
So I guess that's my answer: age 3 years or so- perhaps a little younger for a more independent child and perhaps a little later for a clingier child.
I'd never leave an infant overnight unless it was unavoidable.
