Tips for helping kids adjust to MDO? (X-posted in Parenting)

In a few weeks, my 16-month-old DS and 4-year-old DD will start attending a Mother's Day Out program while I work for a few hours a week. It is from 9 am-1:30 pm. DS will attend M, F and DD will attend M, W, F. Neither of them have much experience with childcare and they both have a hard time with separation, especially DS b/c of his age. Any BTDT mamas have tips for easing the transition, especially for DS? Thanks!

Will your kids be together? Our 16 month old does much better in new situations if her sister is there.

That's a brutal schedule - is it set in stone? With the long gaps (especially M, F) you can expect transition will take a little longer because there won't be as much continuity from day to day. Not that your kids won't adjust, but it will be harder on them than t, w, th or something like that.

The best advice I have is to treat it cheerfully and matter-of-factly. They'll take cues from you.
