Boy haircut recommendations-St. Louis

I need some recommendations of people to cut my ds' hair (he's almost 4). When it was first cut, we went to one of those kids places and had a mediocre cut that and it was almost $20. After 3 trips there, I was done. I had my hairdresser do his hair a few times. It was much cheaper and convenient, I just didn't care for the way she cut it. The last time it was done I took him to JC Penney and the lady there did a good job, but it was almost $20 again. Maybe I'm cheap, but surely there's someone out there that cuts kids hair for under $20 and does a good job. At this point, I'm very tempted to just take him to a barber shop since they specialize in boy/men cuts.

Not sure which of the kids places you've been, but we've tried them all, I think! We've had the best luck at the Hairy Elephant. Granted, we go for girls haircuts, but we've always had good experiences there. The cuts are $17, but they do a much better job than a Great Clips type of place, IMO.

You really can cut his hair yourself. It's sssoooooo easy to cut a boys hair. Just get a clippers anywhere (Target, Wal-Mart, there like $15) and I put on the 3/4" attachment and just cut the whole head. It really is super easy.

We use the Hairy Elephant too. They typically do a good job for us.

I'll have to give them a try, too. We were going to Cookie Cutters in West County and our last visit was a nightmare. My 4yo said that the lady was 'hurting him' with the clippers. She didn't even back off after he started crying. AWFUL experience. Cheap, but AWFUL experience.
