What kind of pocket diaper insert will allow baby to feel wet?

I started EC'ing DS at 13 months. We were doing really well, but now at 17 months I have started back to work full time. I let DS go in disposable diapers for the first two weeks of daycare and he has regressed majorly. I've tried putting him in underware and a waterproof cover for daycare, but he refuses the potty there and so his undies are a mess as you can imagine. I don't want him back in disposables. I think it's confusing him. Inserts in a pocket diaper should work better because they can be released at the sides for poo messes or pulled up and down like underware if he is staying dry. Bottom line is - if he pees, I want him to feel wet. All the cloth diaper brands brag about the absorbancy and wicking wetness away from baby so they feel dry.

What type of insert is best so DS will feel wet, but pee is absorded enough to not leak out? I am using the Flip diaper cover.

Most pocket diapers are lined with microfleece which will wick the moisture away. Your best bet might be AIO's or AI2's some of which have cotton soakers/liners.

At 17 months I put my son in M Thirsty covers with receiving blankets (flannel) and flats just folded up. Really simple, absorbent for the huge pees, and guaranteed he'd feel wet. Sometimes poo got on the covers but they washed out really well and I've never had staining. (Can't pull them up and down, though.) HTH!

You could also try old pocket diapers with bad PUL. My daughter always felt them when they were wet
