My NB stash... Thoughts?

Thread Starter
Sorry, I know there are a million of these threads out there, but there are so many diaper combinations and everything, and I'm just completely clueless when it comes to diapers.

We currently have...

18 BG 3.0 (one size, but I'm worried that these won't fit a newborn? Experiences?)
9 WonderWorks AIO, small
6 BG organic bamboo fitteds, nb/small
3 Kissaluvs fitteds, size 0
7 Thirsties fitteds, small
1 Imse Vimse contour, nb

And then 7 covers, several of them Thirsties Duo size small, and 2 snappis, so I think we're good there. I know technically we have enough to keep the kid in diapers and not do too much laundry, but I'm worried about how things will fit, and keeping things simple.

I'm thinking about ordering a dozen infant prefolds and 6 Kissaluvs contours- thoughts? Maybe just 24 prefolds instead? Dare I ask whether I should go Chinese or Indian... I know everyone has a different opinion on that.

I'd also love feedback on when/how you end up using each type of diaper- I figure AIOs will be best for grandparents and outings, and maybe at night?

Thank you for any help

For me, the BumGenius OS would never fit a newborn. That being said, I make small babies! Ava was 6lbs 13oz and Levi is estimated 6lbs 6oz and will be delivered on Thursday/Friday of this week VIA induction. Ava didn't fit her BGOS until about 10lbs and even then they were really bulky.

The thirsties XS were huge on my 6lbs 13oz newborn, so I'm not sure the small's will work for a "regular" size newborn.

I always have a dedicated newborn stash, then move on to one size diapers.

I would order 5-6 newborn covers. Bummis super brites, Imse Vimse preemies, Thirsties XS, or Thirsties size 1 DUOs, 2 dozen newborn prefolds and 1 dozen infant prefolds to get you through until the other dipes start fitting!!

Looks great otherwise though!!!

On both of my babies, I ONLY liked fitteds until they were a month old or so, and after that I liked prefolds best. Pockets and AIO's leaked newborn poop. If I were having another newborn, I would get all Snugglebottoms newborn fitteds, then get all regular prefolds.

I concur that BG do not work for nb. My 7 lb baby did not fit them till at least 10 lbs as well.
We had success with Kissaluvs size 0 but they didn't really stay very soft so I wound up cutting fleece strips for inside.
Trying a few new things with baby #2 so we will see. Bought some fuzzibunz pockets this time around. Heard they work alright with newbies and go up to 18 lbs. We will see.
Good luck!

I also think you need a lot more newborn options, fitteds are definitely easiest.
