I have a ds who the hubby and I chose, against my families thought, to leave intact. His ped was glad I left it intact but when I posed the question when he should be retracting the foreskin told me should have already be retracted at 2. I not really knowing the "typical" age and knowing the peds boys are uncut I asked what to do. He suggested stretching(by my son pulling the foreskin back) for a period of time to lossen the phimosis. I waited for about six months until he was over 3 and asked him to try it. He cried so much in pain the first time and I chose to stop that with one try. I worried about his tightness up until now. He periocdically pulls his foreskin back now, which is looser, to wash but keeps it forward. Had I not stumbled on this site and some of the answers to other questions about phimosis I was considering the slit surgery. I didn't want that for my son since he was as a very young boy taught to answer the question "why do you look like that" with "because my Mommy and Daddy chose to leave me as God intended." This site has given me renewed perspective that he is in fact "OK" and his phimosis is natural at this stage.
I chose to step out of my familial norms and breastfed both of my kids and leave my son intact and I have to say it is a great feeling to do things MY way in a manner that was best for my children.
I hope anyone out there that needs help in their own battle get as lucky as I did.

I am so happy you found the information here and kept your ds safe from being hurt by trying to retract when he wasnt ready.

Thank you for posting and

Welcome.

Don't worry about the washing. Over washing causes way more issues than not washing.
