Hello! I've been a stepmom for almost ten years know, but I've known both of my stepdaughters since they were four and one. They're now twenty and seventeen. I also have two daughters ages 7 and 20 months.
SD1 and I get along pretty well for the most part. We've had disagreements before but she stays over when she is home from college, visits both DD's often, and is all around a very sweet girl for the most part.
SD2 and I don't get along at all. She has refused to sleep over at our house for two years now. At the time she stopped sleeping over she was in therapy (but has since stopped going) and ran away from our home once because we were 'being mean.' SD2 never has free time and will only sleep over for the holidays (and even then she is often disgruntled). I have talked to her about sleeping over once a month or every three weeks. I have talked about court orders; I have backed off and tried to let her father handle it. Nothing works. She won't stay over, she won't drive out here to see us, and she sometimes won't come with us when we come out there to see SD1. She is good with both of her siblings, but sees them sporadically. DH and SD1s relationship has become better, but she is leaving for college in a year and I'd like to improve things.
