For those of you who found out about this allergy mess and did something about it before conceiving another, do you see a difference in your children? I am referencing this old post We're about to try for #2, and I just don't have enough $$$ to see my son's DAN! and do all the genova testing for myself. I know a lot of my deficiencies based taste tests, how I feel supplemented, etc, but, I just need a little encouragement that #2's infancy won't be the hell DS1's was because I've done something to help prevent it.

Well it seems like there is a little baby boom here so hopefully now or in the near future we'll know!
I've also been reading a lot recently about adrenal issues and have come across quite a few moms with second children born after adrenals are treated with different temperment and no allergies.
This year will be published results of a six year $1M neonatal probiotic study too, I'm awaiting that with bated breath.

You crack me up - I don't think they will stop making it! But I understand the hope that that holds for you.
Yes, the Neonate study. Supplementing it for first six months of life, then the babes were followed for six years afterwards, tracking allergies, skin conditions and asthma. They've only said briefly in past years that the results were positive with reduced evidence of these disorders. I hope they are "statistically significant".

I don't know if I will be able to come back later, but wanted to quickly say that my ds seems a bit better than dd at this point. He is 6 mos old and has nothing allergy related that I can tell yet. No skin things, not even cradle cap, thank God!! And he sleeps better. Diapers look fine and he gains weight! Still have a sacral dimple, which is part of the puzzle for us I guess, but otherwise he seems great. Of course I still nurse dd once a day, so I still avoid everything for her (top 8 and then some), so who knows. But, I am thinking this is going to be better. What a relief!

I think it's important to feel comfortable you've done everything you can, and there are some things you can learn from your first children to help the health of your next babes.
I also think it's important to realize we can't completely control it. I don't have any known food/nutrient/health issues, and my DS has a very fragile system (autism, food reactions, poor ability to clear metals & viruses, a brain that is partly "deaf" - and that's just what we've run into in the first three years). Sometimes you just get the babe you get.

A bigger update, if I have time to finish it...
Random chance says ds may just be inherently different than dd, like mama fish said, and with the metals/toxins idea, dd may have just gotten a bigger load of junk. That said,
Ds is a happier baby, though quicker to cry. He goes to sleep waaaaay easier - he even nurses to sleep
. Dd would scream while nursing and refuse a bunch, but show blood sugar crankiness if she didn't nurse every 45 min or so. Ds can easily go several hours. Dd gained crazy fast. Ds is still on top of the curves (99%) but is more proportional - is taller and weighs less than dd. Dd had constant cradle cap (still does), ds has had it 3 times, traceable to my diet, but is otherwise clear. Ds sleeps waaaaay better than dd does, both now and when she was his age. Milestones-wise, they're on the same track.
With dd, bloody poop symptoms slowly started showing up at 3mo, and were near constant by 6mo when I started eliminating foods. They showed up earlier with ds, but matched old triggers for dd (read *me* dd can eat the same foods directly, no prob) or me detoxing (I slowly started enzymes when he was 2mo, and have had a huge detox reaction from them). Ds gets very frustrated and yells more, but I think that dd's the exception there. Similarly, ds is more bothered by temperatures and bumps, but I think that's dd having sensory issues that make those things a non-issue for *her*.
Eta: ds has a sacral dimple, but a better latch than dd, and he also has baby acne that started early and is still there (he's almost 5mo) but again, it seems tied to my diet more than anything. And dh had bad baby acne too...
