hi, I would like to get on board this as well. I need to lose weight and feel better. I have tried before but the longest I have lasted would be around 2 weeks....would love to know how you keep up the motivation. Also, are you being so strict that you are cutting out bread (that has sugar in it)?

I'm taking it one day at a time, but I (for some reason??), decided not to eat that cake last weekend, not to shop for chocolate this week, not to buy an extra goodie at the bakery! One day at a time...and I'm exercising a bit too! I just want to look and feel good again.

Uh-oh, that's something I need to concentrate on again. I was much better over the last year but I have lapses from time to time (usually just before my period starts!).

Do you know these books?
- Addiction-free - naturally
- Potatoes, not Prozac

Both are at least 10 years old, I liked them a lot when I read them a couple of years ago.

Good luck!

Welcome! For me the motivation at first was admitting to myself that this was an addiction and that I needed to treat it like I was an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to AA and don't even allow themselves one sip so once I decided to do that it really helped. The first few days were rough but after awhile my cravings just disappeared and I stopped wanting it anymore (we also don't keep any at home either).

I do still eat other carbs like fruit and bread. We buy only fresh bread and I'm planning on starting to make my own so I never buy bread that contains sugar. Ditto when it comes to things like chips. I'll let myself have them now and then but never if they have sugar (I did have two accidents because I didn't check first but now I know to look first ).

Yes, one day at the time is the best. I haven't set a time limit on this but my end goal (no clue how long this will take) is to eventually be able to eat sugar on occasion without binging. But I don't think that will be for a long while. Now it's easier to say no to everything. And congrats on saying no to all those sweets!

Yes, pms is hard! I notice that even though I don't eat sweets now I do eat more junk food in general and it's something I need to watch. I've never heard of those books but I'll check them out, thanks!!
